How to duplicate an event

Make a new draft from an existing event, with the same details, tickets and questions, and see what you need to change before you publish it.

Updated October 1, 2026

Duplicating an event creates a new draft with the same details, tickets and questions. It's the quickest way to run a recurring event again. The original event is not changed.

Duplicate an event

  1. In Admin, go to Events.
  2. Open the menu on the event and select Duplicate. You can also use the menu at the top of the event page.
  3. You see Event duplicated. and the new draft opens.

The new draft is called "[copy]" followed by the original title. You can duplicate drafts, published events and canceled events.

What is copied

  • Title (with "[copy]" in front), description and cover image
  • Start and end date and time
  • Location, Contact and Links
  • Visibility (Public or Private), the memberships the event is shared with, and Show attendance
  • All tickets, with their name, description, price, number of tickets, max per person, sales open and close dates, and resale and transfer settings
  • Required memberships, membership discounts and discount codes on each ticket
  • Questions, including answer options and their prices

The tickets in the copy start with nothing sold. All tickets are available again.

What is not copied

Before you publish the copy

  1. Change the title. Remove "[copy]" from it.
  2. Update the start and end date. The copy keeps the original dates.
  3. Open each ticket with Edit ticket and update the sales open and close dates.
  4. Check the description, location and contact details.
  5. Publish the event. See How to publish an event.

Rules to know

  • Only the organization that created the event can duplicate it. Co-hosts don't see Duplicate.
  • The copy is a draft. Nobody can see it or buy tickets until you publish it.
  • Long titles are shortened. Event titles can be up to 100 characters. Adding "[copy]" can push a long title over the limit, so the end is cut off.
  • Ticket sales can't close after the event ends. If you move the event to earlier dates, update the ticket sales dates too. See How to add and edit tickets.
  • "The event could not be duplicated." Try again. If it keeps happening, contact Orbi support.
