How to make a ticket members-only

Add required memberships to a ticket so only people with an active membership can buy it, and see what non-members see.

Updated October 1, 2026

You can make a ticket available only to people who have one or more memberships. Other tickets on the same event are not affected, so you can for example sell a member ticket next to a regular ticket.

Add required memberships

You can add required memberships when you create a ticket, in the Advanced settings step. To add them to a ticket you already have:

  1. In Admin, go to Events and open the event.
  2. On the Info tab, find Tickets and select Add required memberships on the ticket.
  3. Select Add.
  4. Search for the memberships you want and select them.
  5. Select Add required memberships.

The memberships are saved right away. The ticket now shows how many it requires, for example 1 required membership.

Require one or all

When a ticket has more than one required membership, you see Require all memberships:

  • Off (default): buyers need at least one of the memberships.
  • On: buyers need every one of the memberships.

The change is saved right away.

Remove a required membership

Open the ticket's required memberships, select the remove button next to the membership and confirm with Remove. That membership is no longer needed to buy the ticket. When you remove all of them, anyone can buy the ticket again.

What non-members see

  • In the Orbi app, the ticket shows the membership logos and Required membership, Required memberships or Requires at least one membership. They can't add the ticket. Tapping the logos opens the membership so they can join it.
  • On orbi.io, the ticket shows Required membership missing and lists the Required memberships. A note explains whether they need one of them or all of them. They can't add the ticket. People who aren't signed in see this too, until they sign in.

Rules to know

  • The membership must be active when the person buys. It must have started and not have expired. A membership that starts later doesn't count.
  • Invite-only memberships stay hidden. Non-members don't see invite-only memberships in the list. If the ticket only requires invite-only memberships, or requires all memberships and one of them is invite-only, people without them don't see the ticket at all.
  • Free and paid tickets can both be members-only.
  • Required memberships can't be changed on a canceled event.

If saving fails, you see Could not update required memberships. Try again.

To give members a lower price instead of, or as well as, limiting who can buy, see How to give members a cheaper ticket. To make the whole event visible only to certain people, see Public and private events.
