How to give members a cheaper ticket

Add a membership discount to a paid ticket so people with an active membership pay less, and see how the member price shows at checkout.

Updated October 1, 2026

A membership discount lowers the price of one ticket for people who have a certain membership. You set a fixed amount off for each membership, and members get the lower price automatically when they buy.

Add a membership discount

You can add membership discounts when you create a ticket, in the Advanced settings step. To add them to a ticket you already have:

  1. In Admin, go to Events and open the event.
  2. On the Info tab, find Tickets and select Add membership discounts on the ticket.
  3. Select Add.
  4. Search for the memberships you want and select them, then select Select memberships.
  5. For each membership, enter the amount to take off the price under Discount. Below the field you see Ticket price after discount.
  6. Select Add membership discounts.

The discounts are saved right away and you see Membership discounts added. The ticket now shows how many membership discounts it has, for example 1 membership discount.

Change or remove a discount

You can't edit the amount of a membership discount. Remove it and add it again with the new amount.

To remove one, open the ticket's membership discounts, select the remove button next to the membership and confirm with Remove. That membership no longer gets a discount on this ticket.

Who gets the discount

  • The buyer must have an active membership. It must have started and not have expired when they buy. A membership that starts later doesn't count.
  • The buyer must be signed in. On orbi.io, people who aren't signed in see the normal price until they sign in.
  • Several memberships give the best price. If the buyer has more than one membership with a discount on the ticket, they get the largest discount. Discounts are never added together.
  • Discount codes don't stack with it. If the buyer also enters a discount code, they get whichever discount gives the lowest price.

What buyers see

  • In the Orbi app, members see the normal price crossed out, followed by the lower price and Member price. At checkout, the discount shows as Discount applied in the Overview.
  • On orbi.io, members see the normal price crossed out next to the lower price. The ticket also lists Memberships that provide a discount, so others can see which membership to get. Invite-only memberships are only listed for people who have them. At checkout, the discount shows as Discounts applied.

Rules to know

  • Only paid tickets can have membership discounts. On a free ticket you see Membership discounts cannot be added to free tickets.
  • The discount must be more than 0. Otherwise you see Discount value must be greater than 0.
  • The price after the discount must be free or at least the minimum ticket price. Otherwise you see The discounted ticket price must be free or at least followed by the minimum amount. The discount can't be larger than the ticket price.
  • Changing the ticket price can conflict with discounts. If a new price would make a discount invalid, you see These discounts result in an invalid ticket price: with a list of them. Change the price or remove those discounts first.
  • To make a paid ticket free, remove its discounts first.
  • Discounts can't be changed on a canceled event.

If saving fails, you see Could not update membership discounts. Try again.
