How to create discount codes for a ticket

Add discount codes that take a fixed amount off a paid ticket, see where buyers enter them, and check which codes were used.

Updated October 1, 2026

A discount code takes a fixed amount off the price of one ticket. Buyers enter the code at checkout in the Orbi app or on orbi.io.

Add discount codes

You can add discount codes when you create a ticket, in the Advanced settings step. To add them to a ticket you already have:

  1. In Admin, go to Events and open the event.
  2. On the Info tab, find Tickets and select Add discount codes on the ticket.
  3. Select Add.
  4. Enter the code, for example EARLYBIRD, and the amount to take off the price. Below the fields you see Ticket price after discount.
  5. To add more codes at once, select Add another.
  6. Select Add discount codes.

The codes are saved right away and you see Discount codes added. The ticket now shows how many codes it has, for example 2 discount codes.

Change or remove a code

You can't edit a code or its amount. Remove it and add it again.

To remove a code, open the ticket's discount codes, select the remove button next to it and confirm with Remove. The code can no longer be used for this ticket.

How buyers use a code

  • In the Orbi app: On Checkout, the buyer enters the code under Discount code and taps Apply.
  • On orbi.io: On Confirm your order, the buyer enters the code under Apply discount and selects Apply.

The code field only shows when the buyer has chosen a ticket that has discount codes. Codes can't be used on resale tickets.

If the buyer gets several of that ticket in one order, each ticket gets the discount. The discount shows as Discount applied in the app and Discounts applied on orbi.io.

If the code is wrong, the buyer sees The provided code is invalid, please try again in the app or Discount code not found on orbi.io.

Rules to know

  • Codes are a fixed amount. You can't set a percentage.
  • Codes have no usage limit. A code works for anyone, any number of times, as long as the ticket is on sale. To stop a code, remove it.
  • Buyers must type the code exactly as you wrote it. Upper and lower case matter.
  • A code belongs to one ticket. To use the same code on several tickets, add it to each ticket. A code only lowers the price of the ticket it was added to.
  • Codes must be 5–20 characters. Use only the letters A–Z, numbers and underscores (_). Spaces and letters like å, ä and ö aren't allowed. Otherwise you see The code must be at least 5 characters. or Use 5–20 letters, numbers, or underscores.
  • Each code must be unique on the ticket. Codes that only differ in upper and lower case count as the same. Otherwise you see Each discount code must be unique.
  • Only paid tickets can have discount codes. On a free ticket you see You cannot add discounts to a free ticket.
  • The price after the discount must be free or at least the minimum ticket price. Otherwise you see The discounted ticket price must be free or at least followed by the minimum amount. The discount must also be more than 0.
  • Discounts can't be combined. If the buyer also has a membership discount on the ticket, they get whichever discount gives the lowest price. See How to give members a cheaper ticket.
  • To make a paid ticket free, remove its discounts first.

If saving fails, you see Could not update discount codes. Try again.
