How to cancel an event
Cancel a published event in Admin, understand what happens to the event and its tickets, and refund attendees.
Updated October 1, 2026
If a published event isn't going to happen, cancel it. Only the organization that created the event can cancel it, and only until the event has ended.
Cancel the event
- In Admin, go to Events and find the event.
- Open the menu on the event, either in the list or at the top of the event page.
- Select Cancel.
- Select Yes, cancel event to confirm.
You see Event canceled. and the event moves to the Canceled tab.
What happens when you cancel
- The event is no longer visible to users. People who already have tickets still see it under My tickets in the app, and their tickets don't change until you refund them.
- You can still open the event and see its details, Insights and Attendees, and export the attendance list.
- The event becomes read-only. You can't edit the information, tickets, questions or co-hosts.
- Canceling can't be undone.
Tickets are not refunded automatically
Canceling the event does not refund anyone. If people have bought tickets, refund them from the Attendees tab, one ticket at a time. See How to refund a ticket.
Let attendees know before you cancel. Post on the event from the Posts tab and turn on notifications for attendees. See How to send a message to event attendees.
If you don't see Cancel
- The event is a draft. Drafts can't be canceled. Select Remove in the menu instead to delete it.
- The event has already ended. Past events can't be canceled.
- Your organization is a co-host. Only the organization that created the event can cancel it.
