How to refund a ticket
Refund a single ticket from the Attendees tab in Admin, and learn which tickets can't be refunded and why a refund can fail.
Updated October 1, 2026
You can refund tickets yourself in Admin. You need the Admin role in the organization that created the event.
Refund a ticket
- In Admin, go to Events and open the event.
- Open the Attendees tab and find the person. You can search by name, email or Ticket ID.
- Select the attendee, or select View tickets in their menu.
- On the ticket you want to refund, select Refund.
- Select Confirm.
The ticket is marked as refunded, the person is removed from the attendee list if they have no other tickets, and the ticket becomes available again. If the ticket was paid, the money goes back to the buyer. To refund several tickets, repeat the steps for each one.
For how refunds affect your payouts and fees, see How do Orbi fees and refunds affect your payouts?
If you don't see Refund
- The ticket was given away for free. Tickets received through a free transfer can't be refunded. You see This ticket was received via a free transfer and cannot be refunded.
- The ticket has been checked in. Select Undo check-in first, then refund it.
- A transfer is pending. Wait until the recipient accepts it, or until it is canceled.
- You can't open the ticket at all. Only the Admin role can manage tickets. Members and co-hosts can't.
If the refund fails
If you see Unable to complete the action., the most common reason for a paid ticket is that your Orbi Pay balance can't cover the refund. Try again after new sales have come in, or contact support@orbi.io.
Canceling an event doesn't refund tickets
When you cancel an event, tickets are not refunded automatically. Refund each ticket from the Attendees tab. See How to cancel an event.
