Can people outside my school buy tickets to an event?

Wondering whether people from other universities can buy tickets to your event? Here's the answer.

Updated October 1, 2026

Yes. Anyone with an Orbi account can open your event and buy tickets if you share the event link with them, even if they don't see the event in their app feed. To copy the link, open the published event in Admin and select Share.

Whether people can find the event on their own depends on its visibility. A Public event can be found by anyone. A Private event can only be opened with the link, or by members of memberships you share it with. See Public and private events.

Restrict who can buy

If you want to restrict who can buy, add required memberships to the ticket. Only people who hold one of those memberships can buy it.

  1. In Admin, go to Events and open the event.
  2. Under Tickets, select Add required memberships on the ticket.
  3. Select Add, then select the memberships.
  4. Select Add required memberships.

By default, buyers need at least one of the selected memberships. To require all of them, turn on Require all memberships. You can also add required memberships when you create a ticket, in the Advanced settings step.
