How to enable questions for ticket buyers
This guide shows you how to collect additional information from attendees at the time of ticket purchase.
Updated October 1, 2026
Questions are useful for gathering dietary requirements, t-shirt sizes, or confirmation of student status. Buyers answer them when they buy a ticket. The answers appear on each attendee's ticket and are visible when scanning at the door.
Steps
- In Admin, go to Events and open the event.
- On the Info tab, find Questions and select Add.
- Write your Question.
- Choose a Type:
- Free text: attendees write their own answer.
- Checkbox: attendees can check a box.
- Multiple choice: attendees choose one of several options.
- Turn on Required if attendees must answer.
- For Multiple choice, add at least two options. If your organization has set up Orbi Pay, you can turn on Add additional costs to charge extra for some options.
- Under Who should answer, select the tickets the question applies to. This section appears once the event has at least one ticket.
- Select Create question.
You can also add existing questions to a ticket with Add questions on the ticket.
Good to know
- A required multiple-choice question needs at least one option without an additional cost.
- To change the order, drag the questions in the list.
- Removing a question also removes it from all tickets.
- You can add and edit questions on draft and published events, but not on canceled ones.
To see the answers, see How to view and export attendee question responses.
