Why is my membership unavailable?

A membership shows as Unavailable in Admin when no membership period is on sale. Here is how to fix it.

Updated October 1, 2026

Each membership page in Admin shows a status at the top:

  • Active: At least one membership period is on sale right now, so people can join.
  • Unavailable: Members cannot join because there are no available membership periods for sale.

Common reasons

A membership is Unavailable when none of its periods are on sale at this moment. This happens when:

  • The membership has no periods yet. New memberships start without one.
  • Every period's sales open date is in the future. These periods show Upcoming.
  • Every period's sales stop date has passed. These periods show Past.

Fix it

  1. Open the membership and go to the Info tab.
  2. In Membership periods, check the status of each period.
  3. Either edit a period so that today falls between its Sales open date and Sales stop date, or click Add to create a new one.

You can also click the Unavailable badge and choose Create membership period.

When at least one period shows Selling, the membership is Active again. See Set up membership periods for the full steps.

Memberships from an external system

If the membership card has a badge with the name of an external system, its periods are managed in that system. You cannot add or change them in Orbi.
