Set up membership periods

Membership periods define how long a membership is valid and when it can be purchased. A membership needs at least one period that is on sale before anyone can join.

To create a membership period

1. Open the membership in Admin and go to the Info tab.
2. In Membership periods, click Add.
3. Under Validity period, choose the Validity type:
   • Fixed: Set a Valid from date and time and a Valid to date and time
   • Lifetime: The membership never expires
   • From purchase date: Valid for a set number of days, months or years after purchase (1 to 999)
4. Click Next.
5. Under Price and settings, fill in:
   • Name: Example "1 Year" or "Spring semester" (up to 50 characters)
   • Price: Enter 0 for a free period
   • Sales open date and time, and Sales stop date and time: When the membership can be purchased
6. Click Create.

Paid periods

To sell a paid period, your organization needs Orbi Pay. Without it, the price field is disabled and shows Set up Orbi Pay to sell paid membership periods. See How to set up Orbi Pay.

Paid periods have a minimum price, for example 5 kr in SEK, NOK and DKK, or 1 in EUR and USD.

To edit or delete a period

Each period shows its sales dates, price, validity and a status: Upcoming, Selling or Past.

• To edit, click Edit on the period, update it and click Save changes.
• To delete, click Delete and confirm. Deleting cannot be undone.

Troubleshooting

"Complete or close them before deleting this period." You cannot delete a period that has pending applications or pending invitations. Handle them first, then try again.

"The end must be at or after the start." The stop date and time must be the same as, or later than, the start.

"Paid periods must cost at least …" Raise the price to the minimum, or set it to 0.

"Could not create membership period." Memberships that are synced from an external system have a badge with the system's name on their card. Their periods cannot be changed in Orbi.
