About
Cuban Salsa or Salsa Cubana is the name used to describe the dances of “casino” and “rueda de casino”. Salsa cubana is a rotational dance. The dancers walk in a circle while doing rotational turn patterns, often tying partners' arms up into knots that must then be untied. Salsa is always about having fun! It doesn’t matter if you forget a move or mess up; just laugh it off and keep going! The focus of salsa cubana is to be social, with lots of yelling, laughing, and plenty of gyrating hips. Continuation Course Time: Wednesdays, 18:30 – 19:30 The continuation course is aimed towards you who have some basic knowledge of dancing Salsa. You can have taken the beginner salsa course and feel like you want to learn more, or have learned the basic steps somewhere else but feel like this is the time to continue learning more about the dance. At the end of the course you’ll definitely be comfortable enough with the dance to go out and join the social dances out and about around the world. Beginner Course Time: Wednesdays, 19:30 – 20:30 The beginner course is aimed towards you who have never danced Salsa before. Or perhaps you have never danced at all before. It gives you a basic understanding of the dance, including rhythm and music, basic steps, and easy figures. By the end of the first lesson you’ll be able to show off some moves at CSDA’s social hangouts, and by the end of the course you’ll be comfortable enough with the dance to go out and join the social dances out and about around the world. Social dance Time: Wednesdays, 20:30 – 21:00 The social dance is open for any CSDA member, and we highly encourage our students to join it as part of the course. Here you have room to practice what you’ve learned, as well as socialize and make new friends. The student discount applies to students from all schools and universities and also PhD students. Choosing any one level of the course, i.e. beginner or continuation, gives you access to all the activities of the dance, i.e. the beginner and the continuation courses and the social dance after.
