It started with finding out what was happening.

David Maars noticed that students’ online habits were changing. The channels organizers depended on were becoming less effective at reaching their audience.

That observation shaped the idea behind Orbi, with roots at Chalmers University.

In June, Orbi became independent from Bonsai Campus, combining a student app with event management and ticketing. Our first investment followed in October: SEK 2.5 million.

Orbi Career launched in late 2021, followed by job listings in early 2022. The platform passed 50,000 students, and the team moved into its first dedicated office in March 2022.

Memberships arrived that summer, adding another part of campus life to Orbi. Student numbers passed 100,000 in the second quarter and 150,000 by year-end.

Orbi began growing in Finland, Germany, and the Netherlands.

A course-book marketplace launched in January, followed by browser-based ticket purchases in November.

Orbi’s reach grew to the United States, Slovakia, and Switzerland.

Online organization registration, browser-based event discovery, German-language support, expanded organization pages, and new help guides followed. In August, ticket resale arrived, with organizers choosing which ticket types could be resold within Orbi.
